The materials within this series all pertain to the celebration of Stagg’s 100th birthday. A number of dinners and other events were held in his honor across the U.S., including one at Springfield College. The series contains memos, committee minutes, and planning correspondence, as well as correspondence with various companies, sports teams, and organizations regarding their attendance at the event. There are also photographs, a short video and 16mm film, programs, press releases, and newspaper articles about the Springfield dinner, specifically, and Stagg’s birthday, in general. The keynote speaker was Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball hall-of-famer, so there are also photographs of him and some correspondence to him within this series.
