Series 01 Scope and Contents
Jean Genasci Materials contains correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, index cards and a scrapbook that were created, gathered or are connected in some way with Jean Genasci. The class index cards (see Appendix 1 for full list) and some of the manuscripts are from physical education and dance classes that Jean took while a student at Springfield College. There are also a couple of documents written by Jean Genasci, including “The History of the English Bible” and “A Study of the Effect of Menstruation on Total Body Reaction Time”, a preliminary outline thesis written in pursuit of her Master’s at Colorado State College. The majority of the series is made of a scrapbook created/donated by Jean Genasci called “Equality for Gays at Springfield College, 1987-1994”. This contains information on the events, clubs, and activities for the LGBTQ+ community on the campus of Springfield College from 1987 through 1994. Materials include news articles, correspondence, memos, flyers, and photographs. Some of those photographs show the exhibit on Gayness/Oppression/Homophobia put up in Babson Library in 1988. Items in this collection were used in this exhibit.
