James Genasci Materials contains manuscripts, slides, and audiotapes that were created, gathered or are connected in some way with James Genasci. There are a number of manuscripts, including “Backpacking” written by James and Jean Genasci and multiple manuscripts written by Pat Griffin and James Genasci for workshops on homophobia in the fields of physical education, sport and dance done for the AAHPERD (American Association Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance). These manuscripts come from 1988, 1989, & 1991. There are two sets of slides that may have been created for classes or presentations. This includes a set on homophobia and oppression and a set listed as “HB/D” class slides. The “HB/D” class is not identified. The slides are of various activities of a group or class. The bulk of the collection is made of reel-to-reel audio tapes and audiocassette tapes. The reel-to-reel tapes are a series of talks given under the title of “Newsfronts in Health, Physical Education & Recreation” done for AAHPERD. There are six tapes in the series. There are 47 cassette tapes (see Appendix 2 for full list) made for students to use that contain various lectures, comedy clips, and seminars on Sport and physical education. There are a couple of lectures or talks given by Jim Genasci within the series.
