Series 02c Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

This subseries contains various printed materials that encompass Alberto Regina’s life as a professional in the YMCA. Most of these materials mention Alberto Regina by name and describe his accomplishments as a professional in the YMCA. The subseries includes various newspaper clippings from the 1930s and are all written in Spanish. Some of these articles contain annotations from the collector that include the date that the article was published, what newspaper it came from, and Regina’s name circled or underlined. One newspaper clipping contains Regina posing in 14 different positions demonstrating how a person can incorporate 10 minutes of calisthenics in their life every day. There are four complete issues of El Grafico magazine. An issue from July of 1925 contains a complete gym class illustrated with photographs of Professor Alberto Regina (page 18). In an issue from February of 1935, there is an article that talks about Regina and his work within the sport of basketball (page 12). Printed materials also identify Regina as a graduate of the Technical Institute from 1927. Regina is also included in a Springfield College Alumni Issue from May of 1959. The most interesting part of this subseries is a bound scrapbook of newspaper clippings cut out, pasted, and annotated by Regina himself. The clippings range in date from 1935 through 1945 and are all written in Spanish. A few of these clippings are articles that Regina had written himself, while others mention his accomplishments throughout the world of the YMCA. There are also clippings of photographs that were printed in newspapers of groups of male leaders throughout Argentina. There are also pictures of Regina that were printed in various newspapers. There are also photographs of the large groups of people (football field sized) that Regina would teach calisthenics to. The articles also talk about Regina’s various trips to the United States as well as his work within various Pan-American sports.
