This series contains general information on East Campus. Included in the collection is a collection of news articles and writings compiled in 1988 by Dr. Charles Weckwerth titled “East Campus Property & Programs, 1905-1952. These are all copies of articles on East Campus, the camps on East Campus, and programs on East Campus, that he collected during his research on the history of East Campus. Also included is a newsletter from 1983 called “Campsite” produced by the Friends of East Campus. It is not known at this time whether this newsletter was only produced this one time or if there were others produced. There are some pictures of East Campus, mainly of the minor cabins and buildings on campus and some pictures of the forest and the Lake (most pictures of East Campus will be located in the Freshmen Camp/Week Records and Camp Massasoit Records as they were taken during camping and recreation activities), but there are photos of the Cathedral in the Trees and Pukwana Lodge. There are a number of maps from 1930 through the late 1990s of East Campus. These include some topographic maps as well as a designed textual tour “map”. Also included is a wooden plaque with a poem inscribed on it by the name of The Cathedral of Living Trees, written by Serena Truman Robinson (Mrs. Edgar M.). In addition, there are three VHS tapes on East Campus, including one that is a promo done for East Campus and another that is just raw footage probably done in the 1990s. Both are included here because of the images of how East Campus looked at the time. Finally there are three small oil paintings, two of which are signed by Charles F. Weckwerth, of scenes on East Campus. The two signed ones are dated. The one with the the Pukwana lodge, is dated Oct. 1926 and the one with the cross is thought to be dated Dec. 1936. The undated painting may not be Weckwerth’s and is of some trees.
