Series 01 Scope and Contents

Materials within Series I: Miscellaneous Materials include printed college documents, memos, correspondence, transcripts, newspaper articles, flyers, and reports created between ca. 1969-1970. The documents mainly have to do with events that pertained to the Black Student rights protests on the Springfield College campus in 1969 to 1970. There are some documents created by the administration of Springfield College, including the SC Student Handbook for 1969-1970, a pamphlet on the SC Student Judicial System, and various reports such as the Black Demands Status document created in the fall of 1970. There are also transcripts and other official information for the students involved in the Massasoit Hall Takeover. These are restricted due to the personal information contained (See the College Archivist for approval to view). Other important documents include a folder containing information on the Black Alumni Caucus, a newspaper article and reporton the Collegium, information on Lawrence Libow's dismissal and court battles, and flyers from Springfield Collegestudent organization, R.U.B. (Resistance, Unity, Brotherhood). There are a series of folders with events that happened on campus, like the “Action Day and Memorial” and the “Day of Concern”, Stepping Up Day, Faculty Institute, and the All-Campus Meeting.The “Day of Concern” file contains a flyer and bios on performers such as Joni Mitchell.
