Series 3d Scope and Contents
Materials included in Series 3, Sub-series d - Alumni Oral Histories: 1940s-1950, are transcriptions and audio recordings of oral histories of Alumni who graduated from Springfield College in the years between 1941 and 1950. The audio files are on the original cassettes or a digital file on CDs. Included are oral histories with Springfield College Faculty and Coaches Ted Dunn, Charlie Smith, and Irv Schmid. Ted Dunn was the college’s football coach from 1958 until 1975 and he put a great emphasis on old-fashioned sportsmanship. Some themes that are discussed in these oral histories are campus and academic life at the college, as well as the physical makeup of the campus. Another major theme discussed in oral histories by alumni who graduated earlier in the decade is World War II and the effect it had on the campus at the time.
