Theses Collected & Donated by Luther Gulick: “Robert J. Roberts” by Carlos Duella Clapp, ca. 1898
Series 2 Scope and Contents
This series contains annual reports, account sheets, receipts, etc. created by Gulick during his time at Springfield College. It also includes information on the numerous books and other writings that Gulick donated to the College’s library as well as information about the Memorial Portrait Fund established by the College after Gulick’s death in order to commission a painting of him for the School. Within the donated books is a series of Springfield College undergraduate “Theses” or papers collected by Gulick and donated in March 1914. Some of the topics covered are Ancient Funeral Games, Dio Lewis, Robert J. Roberts, Dudley Sargent and Catherine Beecher. There are also a few handwritten and annotated lectures and other writings that are from the 1890s when Gulick was working at Springfield College. These have been kept with the drafts of the annual reports in order to preserve original order. The account sheets and receipts have been arranged chronologically. The timeframe of this series overlaps with much of the correspondence, etc. in Series 3.
