Because much of the correspondence within this collection pertains directly to Gulick’s professional activities with several national organizations, these two areas (correspondence and organizations) have been combined into one series. This series is then divided into seven sub-series. In general, this series comprises Gulick’s incoming and outgoing correspondence related to his leadership roles in various organizations, including the International Committee of the YMCA, the American Academy of Physical Education, the Amateur Athletic Union, the Athletic League of YMCAs of North America, the Triangle Publishing Company, and the Camp Fire Girls. The materials within each of the sub-series are arranged by type and then alphabetically and/or chronologically wherever appropriate.
