Class materials and Oral histories from Prof. Thomas Carty's Hist: 481 - Recent America course conducted in the Fall of 2024. The focus of the class was on the Peace Corps and the class interviewed 9 members of early Peace Corps workers who were trained on the Springfield College Campus or, as in the case of Ken Wall, worked at Springfield College later in their career. Materials were all digital and included class instructions and materials to give guidance on how to conduct oral histories and do transcriptions of the oral histories; oral histories, video and audio; transcriptions of the oral histories; reflections written by the students on their experiences conducting the oral histories; and video of the class presentations given by the students at the end of the semester.

Condition Description

All materials in this collection were originally digital. Files that came to the Archives that were not in appropriate/standard file formats used by the Archives for that media were converted to files used by the Archives. So word documents were changed to PDF/A document, google documents were changed to PDF/A, JPG documents were changed PDF/A, all audio were transferred to WAV and MP3 and all video was transferred into mp4. Original files were not kept.

Text documents such as Releases, transcripts and reflection papers were printed out onto Archival Paper and placed into folders. No copies of audio or video files were placed on any media.
