Series 01, Sub-series c: Springfield College Men and Women’s Apparatus, ca. 1930-1980
Subseries 01C Scope and Contents
This sub-series has undated photographs of Springfield College gymnasts competing individually, either at practices or in competitions. The vast majority of gymnasts pictured here are men. Some of the individuals are identified by name, but the majority of them are unidentified. Of note is an oversized photograph of Springfield College alumnus Henry Etheridge, with which Frank Wolcott included a hand-written biography.

Arrangement
The photographs were originally divided by gender and this order was maintained. Identified students were organized alphabetically by last name (for a list of these students, see Appendix). The sub-series title (“Apparatus”) is taken from Wolcott’s file label. Duplicate photographs were transferred to their corresponding student files and the Springfield College Gymnastics Team Papers. If already present in those collections, they were discarded. Within the Apparatus folders of unidentified gymnasts, the items have no order, and so digitized items were moved to the front.
