Sub-series 2a Scope and Contents
Materials within Series 2, sub-series a: Black Demands, February 19, 1969 include printed college documents, memos, correspondence, transcripts, notes, newspaper articles, and reports createdand gathered by the Office of the President. The Materials all center around the original nine demands that Black Students at Springfield College gave to the Administration on February 19, 1969. A copy of the original demands with notes is within this series, though the original copy of the demands that were given to the administration has not been identified. Other important documents include documents that describe the rationale for the demands, a statement on Black Demands written by Dr. Wilbert E. Locklin and various memos from Norman Keith, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Many of these documents contain addition supporting documentation.
